handle=screen name

he was asking if you also post on FP as juxt, or under a different name

EDIT: it doesn't matter at all, but now that I think about it handle=alias because I think that originated from truckers on their CB radios. They'd all have a "handle" or name they went by. I could be totally wrong.

FP has got to be one of the most cynical dickhead-filled places on the web for music makers. And all the noobs don't help much either. But, I have learned *a lot* from their forums, and there are several really professional people who offer tons of great advice. Of course, they're usually the most bitter people.

I hope we don't end up with all the same BS over here, too. Of course, since a person has to actually spend a chunk of money to get an SP (as opposed to downloading cracked software) we'll probably steer clear of the young'uns who just want to "make that heat!" and who kind of junk up the forum over at FP.

the problem with that board is the MODs.
basically if any of them get a dislike of you then you will get automatically banned.

i've been banned "for life" from that place because of this.

does anybody know how i can get back there??

im sure it has to do with my cookies because i went to that site about a month ago and i wasn't logged in, but the very minute i logged in under my own username i got the message saying:
"You have been banned for the following reason:
None

Date the ban will be lifted: Never"

this is what it actually says.

i have no interest in ever posting there seriously again but i would like the read the threads and stuff.

do i just go into cookies and delete EVERYTHING??

i tried that before on my old computer because i got some porn page locked as my home page and i couldn't change it, but when i deleted all the cookies it just crashed my computer.

any advice??

I think he got banned on his ip address + username. Try opening a new account on a public PC with a 'new' email address. That will work.

In order to post again with this new account you will need a new network card so your ip-address isn't the same as the ip address you got banned with.

Both require a new account and if you want to post again using your own PC you will need to spend some money on hardware (or convince them you are sorry and get the ban lifted? lol, what did you do?).

fuck em

the feeling will pass

i think all new mpc users feel "self-righteous" when they first get one, i know i did!

it'll pass for sure, even if let em be, don't waste your time, let them waste their time, just make sure you tell people interested in the 404 to spend more than 10 minutes with it before getting it to see if it's right for them !

yeah my IP was banned.

but I THINK it has to do with the cookies on my computer because when i went there a while back i was logged out and i could view the site.
but then when i tried to log in under my old user name i couldn't view the site again (i know that was stupid of me).

basically i was banned for talking about the music business vs. art.

seeing as how on that site basically everybody is trying to get into the "mainstream" industry.

i reviewed this members tracks and gave my *honest* opinion.
apparently this guy is working on tracks for major artists and shit and did not take kindly to my advice.

i told him that his sound was good for mainstream music but on an artistic level it fell flat. he then tried to bombard me with false info claiming that he had composed complex jazz pieces.

more shit talking went back and forth and then i was banned.

he is always acting so high and mighty on the site and he is also cool with one of the moderators, next thing i knew i was banned FOR LIFE.

i don't even want to post there again (well maybe  ) but i would like to view the threads.

short of buying new hardware is there any other way i can change my IP address or do you think it's a cookies thing?

Buying new hardware does not change your IP address, changing isp does. or use a proxy as drewzle pointed out.

well i've figured out that they've now banned my IP address.
which is a total cunt.

i can't get to that site using anonymouse and proxys are so complicated and apparently cost money.

fuck them anyway.
