how to make one sample cut off the other need help!!!!!!!!!!

HEY, wat up yall jus wanted to know if there is a way to make one sample cut off the other in the sp 303. the way nic tha 1 da did on his youtube video.

If you've used the 303 for awhile and see that video it seems like he did some work on the samples outside the machine, just check how he says he uses the pitch shift but the tempo of the sample changes if you look at the display not the pitch. Still the best video I've seen for the 303 and he no doubt has skill but I think he clean on the video chop too. But to answer your question you just put the samples on gate playback and release the first pad when you activate the second, takes some timing but not hard if you're sequencing and not playing live. You actually can't have one pad cut another off like an mpc but the gate will get the same effect.

Sometimes I get nice shit because of polyphony errors.

I haven't experimented with it too much, but I'm sure you could have it so the one sample would cut as soon as you press another pad that exceeds the polyphony according to the quality of the samples you're using (long, lo-fi etc).

Anyone else use the polyphony limits to their advantage in a similar way?

i've considered this, but have never wanted the feature that much to go through the hassle of setting it up this way. usually i am in the zone and don't want to sacrifice workflow when i can compromise another way

Yes, I do all the time, but I use a 202. The internal memory card can only play 2 pads at once. and you can't use delay, time stretch, or reverse. I'll sometimes try to jam with two samples. The internal memory can only play 4 mono samples at once, 2 if you're using time stretch/delay or something, I can't remember exactly what it is.

Just out of curiosity, anyone know how many voices the 303/404 have? I assume more than the 4 that the 202 has...

How do you do that? The only way I've made a "silent" pad is by turning down all three knobs using the isolator effect.
