thanks for the replies guys but it was a local battle and i lost to DANCE MUSIC! it was set up really weird and the mixing of styles didnt work (in my case especially) i won two rounds (got mad mad props for the wins) but lost two to dance music...

i got alot of props from ppl tho which was cool and this guy even took down my number to work with me.. he was an a/r (i know i know they can be shady) but i was happy that i got respect.

One thing i can say tho is that the style of music was like every beat battle on youtube where the drums had to be dramatic. the intro dramatic and rest of th ebeat dramatic.

and then it was thug beats (lol) with hoodrats to match... soinbetween sampled beats you heard alot of lil wayne and gucci beats...

i will say this tho... when me and this other dude went head to head we tore it up. i think we had the best round... but he was also the one that hit me withthe dance beat in the end...

FUCK IT! lol.

house music is not that bad jay! (it depends on what house music; daft punk, st germain, a van helden, inner city, motorbass, mr fingers, derrick may, model 500 are good; well, i know, lot of other house things are shit...)

the guy said you can use different style but it was suppose to be paired up properly. both of the guys i lost to were vets of the comp and their 2nd songs were both dance type of tracks. so i think they just knew what could seal the deal for them.

i dont do electro (which is what they poorly resembled) so it was over after that cuz the judges loved dance music.

i like electro and other genres of electronic music but this was so forced cuz he didnt want to lose to my beat which was really dope.

i learned alot tho... mixing wise and intro wise... i just think that the organizing of the battle was unfair when u only had 4 dudes that sampled and 12 dudes that dude gucci man, lil wayne beats

aw man, it sounds like it must have been an ill experience though. We have some beat battle thing here too and I never considered entering because I don't feel like anyone who goes to that would be feeling my music. They seem to be into that Gucci Mane and Katy Perry ish too. I have a family friend who has been before and lasted and his music is sooooo not like mine lol.

i felt the same way but the dude that ran it talked me into it after hearing one of my joints on the local college radio stations being rapped over... it was cool but id have to think long and hard about doing it again...
