Planning on buying a SP404sx, some questions.

B.1 In this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoYGHb6szwE at 05:00 the dude samples sound straight into the pad he chose (this seems like a great feature for me), now, I assume you can do the exact same with turntable hooked into it? (Yes this was a question, a really stupid one)

I hate to stress it, but everyone keeps forgetting about it, it seems.
You can NOT directly hook up a "normal" turntable to the SX and record. You need some sort of phono preamplifier. Whether that be a DJ mixer, an amplifier or a seperate preamp, doesn't matter. There are a few turntables with preamps built in, but they're rare.

@lonestar--I keep seeing you say this, and sorry but it's not the case. There's actually a pretty wide selection of turntables with built in pre's that are really affordable.. heres's a few of them, just from a quick google--

Not to mention the Numark pt-01 usb I have(100 bucks) that mad beat makers use..and all the other usb models out there w/ built in pre's that can be used in non usb mode as well. Not trying to be a dick, but I've seen prior threads where you reply to people like they're insane for talking about using turntables with their s.p.'s without a preamp-- maybe you've been on strictly software the last 5 years, I don't know. But basically there's a pretty huge amount of options out there now that don't involve having to put a pre amp in the equation...not rare at all.

The manual has all languages, that's why it's a 70MB file.

1. SPs 202/303/404/404SX/555, none of them have mute groups AFAIK. SP-606 has mute groups, SPD-S has mute groups and panning. But you can use gate playback as a workaround.

2. I guess so and it seems easier to adjust levels on the SX.

3. Backups, you can make 12 backups of 120 samples each, that's a whole lot of samples.

on #1. don't forget the 808, it has mute groups and oh soooo much more. I love my 808. its not for the impatient though and its really not so great for building songs with anything other than loops. but for sound processing, forget about it, no other sp comes close.
and #2. I really would like to see a youtube of someone doing this and how they do it.

loaded with effects, onboard synths, basic synth sequencer, 4 tracks, song building in linear mode, tons of menus that go deep into details on just about everything...

too bad it uses the noisy iomega zip drive - that's why i finally sold mine, not to mention that i can use logic for song building, so going to the 404sx for quick hardware sampling was a no brainer...

bonus for me: my 404 fits perfectly on the console of my 2009 honda civic, and the civic has a 1/8 mini plug for aux on my stereo system...so yes, i can bang samples while driving down the street...and yes, it is oddly comforting.

Hahaha, that's dope man, you should perhaps look into modding the power supply into a 12V adapter thing (probably all you have to do is switch out the end connection cables), so you don't have to worry about batteries and such.
