I hate being in a slump. This one lasts for too long now.

I forgot to add that I dislike compressing and mixing.

monitors make a huge difference. I'd never suggest working without them (if that's an option, of course).

I get upset when I put the 404 away and forget about it for a while.

When I am on it, I always hate adding too much effects and having shit get too complicated. Always, has been an enemy of mine. Keeping it simple and enjoyable.

Worse than that, I have a hard time moving on to different samples, making new beats, E.G, if this one sample isn't working, I'll work more than necessary to get it to sound right, but I should just move on rather than put the 404 away telling myself it's all wrong, "You're not good enough man."

I gotta tell you all, that's the worst, telling yourself you can't or whatever.

VIDEO GAMES! well more of a distraction when making beats. ever since i had my psp modded i find myself playing every game i can get a hold of. i find myself revisiting old nes games like castlevania or even some good ol ps1 games.

Part I hate most is when you spend all the time diggin for records, sitting down listening to them all, sampling/chopping on the machine, but then NEVER doing anything with the samples.

Like saying, "I'll take a break for now and come back to it later (but you never do)".

Then when I get around to making beats again I just want to start fresh so I dump all the files onto the computer to rot away forever...

and this

yep

most annoying is: the good stuff you did is somewhere in the rot, so you can't throw any of it away!

Programming drums on the Sp 404 so that they have that 'bounce'. The lack of swing quantization makes that difficult.

Chopping samples. Finding sounds to use is not that difficult but chopping them in a way that they can be arranged harmoniously in a pain.

BUMP. I hate beat blocks, and not being old enough to move out my parents' crib.

i can't stand when I hear some hyped up mixtape and i know in my heart of hearts that my beats are so much better than what the dude's rapping over. but at the same time, i have no real desire to self promote. i just can't be bothered to solicit rappers and singers or spend my energy trying to convince people to check my shit out when i could be making beats, which is fun, and i actually feel good at.

oh, and i read that book creative license and it scared the shit out of me. i feel like there's no point in self promotion when you work in samples and don't have a support system with kanye's budget. if samples are your medium, your main options are to fly way under the radar, lawyer up and pay up, or convince a judge to buy your fair use argument.

spending a shit load of time on something and then not testing the levels, and it stabs your brain in half.

Sometimes I realize that I made a creepy/whack beat out of a dope sample.

... And I really hate this moment.

The idea of putting stuff out and only getting a handfull of feedback, response from a few people who either already know me or some random soundcloud bloke giving me props.

This is demotivating. Because I hear a whole bunch of other producers who I think make great, original music but get scarce acknowledgement themselves...
