Joey Beats (did most of Sage Francis' stuff, the Non-Prophets album, Indie Rock Blues, remixes, etc) uses an SP-404 and solely used dual SP-404's live on his most ecent tour.

I heard donuts was made while he was in the hospital on a powerbook.

" In fact, according to a representative from Stones Throw, Jay Dee made much of this record during an extended stay at the hospital, using original 45s, a Numark portable turntable and a Powerbook. The result is a forty-two-minute peek into J.Dilla's beat-tape sketchbook, as well as a lesson learned: Never mistake silence for laziness."

Quoted from this source:

http://www.prefixmag.com/reviews/cds/J/ ... onuts/1975

I've never read anywhere about him using an SP. I have seen pics of his studio where you can see a Korg ESX-1 though.

Ok, the source article said he did it on a sp-303 in bed...with a numark portable. I guess we'll never know. In the same pic I saw the ESX-1, I have seen his powerbook though.

A shitload of MIDI keyboards and Synths, I saw a pic of his setup and was just amazed about how many keys that man had in one room.

Cool... it looks like he uses a Alesis Micron, Korg MS2000, a Novation remote SL 25, and a powerbook as well.
