im my opinion (i have/had the four), the 606 is similar to the 404 (but not that much)...in reality is something between the 404 (60%) and the 505 (40%)

ive had the 404 404sx and now the 606... i think the 606 has a bit of a different sound and without trying to sound all cliche its a bit dirtier and lower quality in a good way (if thats your thing).
i dont think you can even really compare the two. where one falls short the other picks up and they go both ways in that aspect. the 404 is portable and the 606 is not. the 404 is a simple yet powerful machine the 606 is like the 404 in a lot of ways but more powerful and more advanced.
the effects section makes making samples sound like i want a lot easier than i found on the 404. i dont even stack the effects (two at a time) either. i think the effects section on the 606 is just better, more effective and better sounding.
