Nothing new.. in my opinion this is one of the main reasons the internet, cell phones, and gps were put on the marketplace. It's to the point that your every move can be monitored if the government chooses. Problem is,for them-we can use these things to our advantage as well-- and we have new generations of young people more politically/socially aware than EVER, which I don't think the powers that be took into too much consideration. It's funny-my 13 year old self couldn't have even held a conversation with these kids today. The revolution will be digitized. Thanks for the post-glad to see someone concerned with things other than just how to flip a beat on here.

the 'technology of the future' is already in the hands of a few. whenever you see some groundbreaking technology announced on tv, it's not new, just ready for the masses to consume. who knows what will be next to come down the pipes... and we'll gobble it right up because that's what we've been conditioned to do. these days, the more quickly you can slap somebody with a 'conspiracy theorist' label, the more of a motherfucking conspiracy theorist YOU are. my girlfriend thinks i am crazy because i keep a piece of duct tape over the lens on top of my laptop screen. social networks... it's 24-hour surveillance disguised as entertainment... maybe the most brilliant idea of all time.

It's been said for along time that our governments (of most fully developed countries) have already completely developed the majority of the technology that will be introduced 50 years from now--and that it's always been like that. Of course this sounds like a conspiracy theory, and I try not to focus too much on things we have no control over, but it's still worth thinking about-- when will our level of technology be enough? I hear our leaders say all the time that one of our top 3-4 concerns for the future is developing new technologies. I think it should be the exact oppositie and that politicians should admit to the dammage all this "new" technology we're being introduced to on what seems like a monthly basis has caused and continues to cause. On the other hand-again- they're creating generations of little demented liberal minded geniuses who's psyches might be dammaged to the point of truly changing the world when they come into power. I truly believe this is how things will happen...At least in America, and hopefully in other countries as well. As far as the u.s. though- Fuck Obama- we're still at war, war prison camps still exist -he promised he would end both..he's NEVER made a single mention of prison reform or unfair sentencing guidlines based on class/race,no mention of gentrification & segregation in our cities,etc...instead all the real issues in this country have been coverd up the last 2 & a half years by a never ending health care debate and an "economic crisis"-I put this in quotes because the only ones going through a "crisis" are the people that never knew what it was like to truly struggle or be poor-or anything close to it. I could go on and on--but that's one of my problems-- If I dwell on this shit too much it consumes me.

in my experience over the last 3 years on this forum, there are a great number of people who are politically / socially concerned.

Is there some reason you like picking apart shit I say "fauna"? What exactly is the point of you adding something that contributes nothing to the convo? Of course there's people on here with those concerns- but not many take the time to actually post topics on those concerns on this site- all I'm saying. This forum would be more intresting to me personally and most likey a lot of other people if there was more meaningful talk on a regular basis.

I strongly disagree. I go here for a break not a reminder. Just my opinion though.

there is a reason i comment on your posts AD, but it is not to pick them apart.

and i think i did contribute to the convo. you've posted here and before about what you seem to feel is apathy in the membership here - i pointed out that i disagree.

futhermore, i think it is too bad that you hope SP-Forum could engage your need for political / activist discussion. that is not the point of the forum. to imply that those who post on here about how to flip a beat are somehow less politically engaged is, to me, a slight to the membership.

i'm sorry you took personal offense. none was intended.

I'm for and against both side of this equally...

I see where everybody is coming from and I do wish there was more meaningful threads here, but also not at the expensive of people getting upset about it. I love this forum because people are laid back and there's tons of talent/knowledge to be spread. Everybody relax and just lets things flow. It's not like we're wikileaks or anything....

If a topic comes up that get's peoples blood pumpin let it go.... this is the stuff that drives creativity!

@Fauna-in the post you're speaking of, I was commenting on YOUR apathy due to your response,(think it ws a discussion about dilla where you told me to "take it to mpc forums"lol) apathy that you showed again by thinking the thanksgiving wise owl post was "hillarious". I wasn't trying to talk down to anyone by saying what I said in my first response to this thread-so,"sorry you took personal offense".It was just a general statement, trying to show some respect to the kid that posted. Why don't you worry about something like the 8,000 posts by the ciggarette guy then whether or not some people wanna discuss some social/political issues? If you're saying "this isn't the place"- YOU'RE being dismissive of every and anyone that's ever dropped a thread related to such things. I obviously use this forum to talk about music and production 99% of the time- the idea of me using this board as an outlet for "political activism" is something you seemed to have come up on your own and well, retarded to put it simply. People post shit about their personal lives all the time on here--why exactly should poitical/social concerns not be included in discussions of our day to day lives? @ Formal- what you said is pretty much exactly how I feel, honestly, and I would never let any discussion on a forum get me seriously heated--but like you said-different people are motivated and are passionate about different things- Me personally, I do more than just make beats whaen it comes to music, and what goes on in the world around me is a HUGE part of my creative process. If you come across a thread that you don't wanna get into, then just move on.....Captain Crunk- I could go on and on with some simmilar stories... don't ever let anyone tell you you're crazy or paranoid over things like that, shit's real.

@AD - my issue with the posts you put up has more to do with the heat you throw around inside them.

my experience has been that whenever anyone has any opinion contrary to yours, you immediately call them out with some harshness.

this something a lot of us work hard to keep out of sp.

maybe i'm misreading what i'm seeing above and in other posts, but its a pretty good example of what i'm reacting to.

if that's not yr intent, my apologies. if other people fink i'm being too sensitive, totally fine to tell me so.

as i said earlier, a lot of people have political discussions on here too. awesome. i do too. fun.

again, my issue is not with what anyone's talking about - politics or otherwise. more to do with the heat inside the posts.

and seriously man? the cigarette guy? - i actually sent private messages to Keesj about him. something i do regularly whenever a bot spams the board. you ever done that?

you should pro'lly stop calling people you know absolutely nothing about apathetic.
