fixing mic cable help

aight so some douche bag ripped the cable out of the mic thing so i took it apart. and it doesnt seem to matter which wire goes where. should i just solder it? or does it matter which wire attaches to what prong. there is three prongs . 2 are connected. the cable has a copper wire < ground a think> and a yellow wire . i tested it and it works both ways . let me know before i soldier this bitch
