applying effects to samples while playing patterns

on the 404sx is it possible to modify the effects of individual samples whilst the patterns are playing? if so how do you do this?

you can to a certain extent BUT maybe not as complex as you like... play a pattern then get out of pattern mode.. now you can hit pads that are playing and add effects to those pads and knob twist while the pattern keeps playing

yes, you can change the 'active pad' (the pad or pads to which fx will apply) by holding remain and pressing the pad - this way you won't retrigger the pad's sample, while you can still change the effects that apply.

for example:
- start a pattern that uses pads 1-8
- make pad 1 the active pad while it's playing by pressing remain + pad 1 (pad 1 will blink)
- press delay effect button
- make pad 5 and 6 the active pads by pressing remain and pad 5 and 6
- press filter fx
etc.

same method is also good if you want to mute pads (using the subsonic effect) while a pattern plays.
