Just wondering....

Post by Amable »

Who are the sp 606 heads here? I got a sp 606 a couple months ago and I love that thing! It was definitely worth the money. I just wanted to peep the work of other 606 heads in here. My next move is to learn my mpc 500 aqnd combo it with the 404. Are there any heads with the similar 404/mpc 500 combo?

my man krisq used to own both mp500 and 404. He ended up selling em and buying mp1k though. he said they were nice to work with.

portability of 500 is truly nice but I guess unless you're the ultra-outdoor dude, gather some more $ and go with 1k.

606 is indeed maad nice. used to own one, used to love one.

Been on the 606 for about 3 years. 555 for about 2 and 303 for about 6? Also an mpc 1000 owner. Love the 606 but use the 555 for faster work flow.

The MPC500 & SP404 would be a powerful 1-2 combo, got the MPC500 & an SP606 (it just turned 3 years old).

The MPC is a totally different beast to the SP, waaaay more complex to use, but for sequencing the SP it'd be sweet. Linking gear like this is always a good idea- just because they're both samplers doesn't mean they're fundamentally the same. The MPC500 lacks the range of soundbending/resampling tricks & fast workflow of the SP404, but slays it in terms of sampling, pitchshifting & voices.

i had both mpc500 and 404.
personally i didnt like the pads of both.
but i think it's not a bad idea at all to work them togheter.
the mpcs got the best sequencers from years but they're not so intuitive and akai don't have an "history" in fx as boss/roland got.
so sequencing the 404 with the 500 it could be cool.
other people use to do that also with the yamaha qy70 a very cheap portable synth/sequencer, but powerful indeed. i had one too, not the best sounds inside (depending also on what you search for), but useful.

for the 606:
i rebought an sp606 for using it as soundcard/usb-midi controller and sequencer. maybe soonly i will post some track i made.
