just bought a 606... possibly faulty?
ok guys, so ive been lurking here for a while now, and finally ive got my own 606... came in the post this morning! loving it so far, but I have one little niggle...
the button makred INT in the control section doesnt press... theres no click from it like the other buttons and however hard i press it, it doesnt do anything.
is this gonna be a real problem? i kinda stuggled to find a 606 for the price i was looking for (under £200) and i dont wanna go to all the bother of sending it back, trying to get a refund etc if this is a function im not going to use much.
I know i should look through the manual, but my 606 didnt come with a hard copy and i want to let the seller know ASAP if its gonna be a problem... dont really have time to trawl through the whole thing!
thanks in advance!

Is that button lit up when your sp is on? Int means you want to work inside the machine (internal).. ext means you want to control something else via midi (external). So you might be switching between the two at some point.
as long as when u press ext, it switches from int. and when you press int, it switches from ext. If that happens then you're good

thanks for replying!
when it starts up, it starts up in internal mode... i can switch to external by pressing the EXT button, but i cant switch back to internal without powering down the machine... unless there is some way to do the same thing through menus?
also, if i select shut down, the 606 displays "processing..." for a short time, then goes back to wherever i was before... is this normal?

yeah that shut down process is normal.. u just push the power button after it does that (personally I dont even press func shutdown, i just go ahead and turn it off - I never had a problem once - not recommending tho just saying lol)
I guess your int button is busted, you should be able to switch between int and ext. You are lucky though that you can just power off and on and then get back to internal lol
The only way this would present a major problem would be if you were playing live and you are switching between samplers using your sp as a controller??... I dunno who does that but yeah man u shouldn't have a problem.. consider yourself lucky that u have a work around to get back to internal.

I never use ext anyway, if you dont plan on controlling anything with it, it wont matter.

yeah your good unles you wanna use it with the p606 software which is no prize. but if it doesnt light up, watch the screen and see if it changes, which it does, if not, fuck external control. the drivers suck anyways and ive had alot of issues with the midi interface too. so your all good
Re: just bought a 606... possibly faulty?
ok guys, thanks for the advice... I think I'm gona hang on to it, partly because external control doesnt seem like that big a deal, and partly because now ive got my hands on it i can imagine being without it whilst i find another at a decent price
just to clarify, the screen does change and it enters external control, I just cant get out of external control and back to internal by pressing the INT button.. althought they both light up as expected.
this is my first SP, really enjoying it so far!

some of the sp606 buttons are not well conceived, i mean the quality of the button itself is not that good.
personally i have a similar problem with mfx2 button: sometimes it works some other you have to workaround very much to get things go; other: the track 1,2,3,4 buttons work but it happens that sometimes they don't work at the desidered moment.
this makes me say that those plastic buttons are not the best.

yeah ive noticed this, they can be quite unresponsive. but my INT button doesnt seem to move at all, at first i thought maybe it was supposed to be like this and it was only an LED, not a button.
another stupid question that doesnt deserve its own thread, every time i try and record a pattern, the sp is saying "memory full!" when i try to record... i have a flash card with lots of room insterted and im not trying to record a pattern into one of the first 40 slots... (is there a way i can wipe all the factory patterns/sounds etc also?) whats up with that?

Re: just bought a 606... possibly faulty?
have you tried to reinitialze the whole 606 memory yet?
Re: just bought a 606... possibly faulty?
reinitialize the machine and check the system version 1.09 or 1.11
