being more creative with the sp

Post by tape smoke »

there comes a time in every mans life when he must stop making cookie cutter beats and be more creative, I'm moving today or tomorow to a ghetto shack with no internet, so I figure i should be more creative with my music, I have been slightly neglecting my 404 for music production, I started using in as an all in one beat box, I refused to fuck with software, now i make a beat in 10 minutes with a software program to make the same beat that would take hours and hours on the sp, I also notice i get a better sound with software, however drums bang harder on the sp. Lately ( last few months) I've been using my sampler mostly for live show, I import full beats to the pads and trigger them for my rap krew , theni go to a quiet drum bank so it looks like im actually doing something, I also collect real lofi sounds and space beeps and stuff , then sample them again into my computer in 8 bit and use them in my software, wow I'm a traiter, i want to come back, and do this all 404, maybe a resampled pad album, i dunno any ideas ?

Sp is just a tool man, just cuz you have a screwdriver doesn't mean you don't want hammer. Use the features you like best on the gear you have! Still waiting on that album cover by the way, should be soon!

stop trying to be creative and create something ;)

I find if I try to think about being creative it makes me exactly the opposite of creative.

they sound like the kind of things I used to write in my LSD notebook, which I would write in whenever I had a seemingly earth-shattering idea.

off topic.. but for example..
did anyone ever actually stop and think about the words in 'row row row your boat'?

Is it government police-state propaganda teaching everyone at childhood to keep their head down and stay on the path? is it a song of torment written by someone who came to realise the only happy people were the ignorant?

Congrats, you got it. Our society works mainly by fear: you fear being given a ticket or losing your license, so you don't speed too bad. You fear not being accepted so you get all the hip clothes and gadgets. You fear being assraped in jail so you don't kill that motherfucker across the street who stole your bike and called your mom a whore.
At least that's how it works for too many people

lol. you cats are crazy.

the oblique strategies are somefing that eno came up with for when he was producing albums, and he and the artist were at an impasse. they'd pull a card like "the end is now the beginning" and they'd go and change the arrangement (or mix, or vocals or whatever) by being inspired by the card.

remember, eno went to art school.
