vanishing card space?

i don't know if this issue's been addressed before but i did'nt know what to search for.

i've been using my 404 to covert whole albums into wav files so i could have them on my computer. after about 3 records i've been unable to export due to insufficient memory & i've made sure to delete the exported files & checked if there was any back up data (there was none).

any ideas on whats happening here? & can i fix it without formatting?

You may have found a bug - maybe some data on the card tracking how much free space there is isn't getting reset when you delete the files.
You'll probably have to format which should reset any such space tracking.

Did you delete the recordings in the 404 or on the computer? If you do it on the computer, the 404 might not know they've gone!

BTW - any reason you don't record into the computer in the first place?

If you are tying to delete them using a Mac computer you will need to actually "empty the trash" to delete the files. If you delete them and take the card out without emptying the trash all the files will remain on the card.

jim- i haven't recorded straight into the comp because i don't have a usb turntable & i like eq'ing through the sp.

News to me that a Mac puts a Trash on a removable drive - but long time since I've been near one. Windows doesn't.
Glad it's fixed anyway.

@ Jim there is actually a setting you can change so it deletes automatically, but more times than not I've been happy to be able to go back and retrieve files I accidentally deleted

I'm a windows, OSx and linux guy so I was instantly familiar with this issue.
