Roland HD-1 V-Drums
Just saw these the other day; costs less than a 555, and makes any sampler much much more 'human'.....

Yeah, but unfortunately most people can't play the drums to save their life and that's just 4/4 grooves, let's not even talk about other time signatures.
I usually try to play all my beats live 'cause I eventually want to buy a nice jazz drumset. I just use a sampler now 'cause I love hip hop for the integration of all the music I like and I'm broke so I can't buy all the instruments I want to learn, but with a sampler I have access to all the sounds I can find.

My family (mum + dad anyway) live in Bendigo, and Billy Hyde just opened a new 'superstore' there (Just like a Guitar Centre, my American Friends); so I went to check it out. And WOW - these things are mad man - I wanted to go and get an SP just to hear what it could do... but the staff were a bit like 'Are You Gonna Lay By these, mate? Or What?' - not allowed to 'just look' these days are you??
Anywho - Billy Hyde in Melbourne no doubt have 'em (If you don't feel like a one-and-a-half-hour drive lol)..

I have the V-drums which are a step up from these, the TDS5W or something that like that and they are a great. The sounds on them are quite nice, both real and unrealistic. I have been a drummer since 1993, and playing the vdrums, is like a perfectly tuned, perfectly micd studio kit, plus with midi, i can play any sound i can sample via hooking it up to the 404. But bottom line, you have to be able to PLAY, there aint no quantize!
