The best feature of the 606 (in my opinion) is the fact that it has mute groups and u can have pads cut eachother off. Because of this I never have to worry about end points and I save a lot of time when making beats. No other sp's got that - even on the mpc2000xl u can only have 3 pads to one groups=not enough.

dam, 3 pads to a mute group, that sux. well mute groups are good, i got an 808 with mute groups. im just more worried about sampling ans chopping cause i hear this auto chop feature is gay. as long as i can chop my samples like on a 404 and 555 im coooool. everything else will fall into place.

there's no mark button. so basically the way u chop is by setting start and end points by looking at the screen and using the jog wheel... but u can can zoom in and out the screen to get very accurate.

autochop only works well for drums

say u wanna fill up ur 16 pads with drums quickly...You hit sample.. then play 16 sounds leaving small gaps of silence in between. Use the autochop and boom u got drums in each pad. Normally on ur 404 u would have to go and sample each sound onto each pad.

Great machine, the 4 track sequencer is very helpful but, the workflow of the machine overall is kinda slow.

yes it is!!! i keep sliding back to my 808, then back tot he 606 like " i paid all this dam money, work faster" but once you add a screen, shit gets slower. ill kep banging on it until i find a way to benefit from it, then ill rock it hard but up to this point, its just another 16 pad box with alot of function+ someting or hit sample 3 times, go through 3 screens, reset the same parameter everything, so if you sampling 16 pads fast, it will take you a little longer.

once u get used to it u can do alot really fast.... i mean to me... having pan, volume of the sound and mute groups is more than enough... resampling is better cuz u can see what the threshold is for the sounds u are layering... plus using 2 fxs is major as well

2 fx? i didnt know about that, i gotta look into it. but it is a really fast machine with the divide and resample shit. i chop like lightning. but whats the deal with the 2 fx's. i kjnow the machine pretty good so if you can lay out how to do that right quick, id really appreciate it. my 606 has 2 fx and its the shit resampling quicker with more effects.
