I have two questions.

1. Im thinking of getting a cassette recorder so i can have my beats recorded on a tape...if i do this, whats a good recorder to get? Whqt do yall think of the old portastudios?

2. If i do record onto tape, how do i import that to computer without destroying zero sound quality?

I use a macbook, and I can plug the headphone mini jack straight into it and record files straight into quicktime(the free version loaded on my mac). I just did this with a ton of old cassettes i wanted to preserve.

I'm not sure about the PS. Do you need multi-track, or will stereo work?

I got a cheap Tascam usb interface. It was the cheapest thing I could find at the time but I gotta say it was a noticeable improvement in sound quality compared to just running it into the mic in.

i record from my other drum machines into my SP. i just "sample" my stuff playing into the sp and then export the sample to the memory card and drag it to my computer. you could do the same with tape.

make a beat on the sp and record it to tape.
then hit sample on the sp and play the tape to one of the pads. export to the memory card and there you have it...

help at all? spark ideas?

Seems like a lot of work, are the results worth it or that noticeable?

i do it to the memory card because recording to the audio in on my computer sucks and i have no interface. it works well honestly. and doing it the way i mentioned with recording to tape and then back into the sp to the memory card is the only way that EYE could do that if i didnt have two machines to work on and still wanted to use the sequencer on the sp.you could always freestyle and do the resample way but you cant resample and use the sequencer. it may be work but it does WORK.

yea you need a cardreader. you sample to the card then use the card reader to drag the files off of you card onto the computer... there are a lot of ways to do it digitally is the easiest but most cats on here frown on it.
