Lookin damn fine these days

Post by formal »

Always wanted the diff color faceplate that Roland made, never wanted to spend the dough on the styleflippin.... so I made this. It's all protected like a vinyl sticker and it's been applied well to the original cover so nuthin is floppin around while yer bangin the pads.

SP PORN! :D

Nice man, very tasteful. I usually hate gear customization, but this is nice.

The pattern matches well with the button layout. Nice job.

Thanks for all the kind words. Here's a little run down of how I made it.

1. Found an image that would fit over the case of the 404
2. Used the original 404 case as a template and cut out the image to fit.
3. Applied transparent contact paper over the entire image leaving a small boarder on the edges so it would stick to the 404 case.
4. Cut out all the button holes in the transparent layer.
5. On the backside of the image I sprayed liquid glue so that when I stuck it on the old cover it would stay (when I get tired of the image I will have to wash the glue off later).

Total time.... about an hour and a half.

This is my first one so if I do it again I'll know how to improve the process.

Another image on the direct vibe :)

-$$- *Button holes now look better after this photo was taken (pad 7 I'm lookin at you)

* On a side note: things are bit off balance but that's the nature of the beast. If anything it reminds me that we need a little swing in all our lives! (this whole project was really random actually)

Hahaha! Don't even try to blame that on me! You may have just violated my 404 ;)

Ya I didn't cut out the mic holes. I thought twice about doing it, but the holes are so small it could make or break the design. I've also never even used the internal mic. :P
