Hi all
Been using this FX a lot lately on vocal samples. If I switch ctrl3 at the right time I can get infinite sustain of a vowel sound which I like doing a lot. But it sounds a bit samey then, so it would be nice to introduce some vibrato or pitch bend. Trouble is the speed range on ctrl3 is far too coarse - and it only goes down.
So I'm thinking of doing some mods somehow.
Add some switches so...
CTRL2 range is less but finer (it'll still only go down).
CTRL3 has an over-ride (possibly on a footswitch) to make on-off function quicker.
..and do it in a way that doesn't permanently change how the knobs work.
Well, it's probably do-able, but I'm wondering if it's worth it? Probably the only other FX that this would suit is the BPM looper.
Any thoughts?

would be nice to have finer control on the reverb mix amount... that thing is ridiculous sensitive at the bottom..
Yes, you can do this (maybe
).. you need to figure out the max resistance of the current pot, then choose one that has say 1/10 the max resistance (or if they're log pots not linear pots, then adjust accordingly)...
You don't even need to add a switch, just put the pots in *edit* series and turn one down to 0 when you wanna use the other.
That is assuming they work with less resistance = less value..
but either way, just attach the pins the same way you see them attached to the current one.
There are of course some things that might stand in the way - eg, the analog->digital system might only be able to detect 0-127, in which case there is no way to get a finer control.
Also even though it's a pretty simple project, you don't wanna do it unless you have experience with electronics..

well, i know it's not exactly what you are looking for, but this vid of a circuit bent DR-202 suggests that other boss / roland stuff can be modded with switches (and possibly patch bays).

I'd assume the 3 ctrls are lin pots to get the mid points at 12 o'clock.
I'm also assuming they have a voltage across them and an ADC in a chip reads the voltage off the wiper. If it is as simple as that, then you could do a mod so a midi/cv converter (or an ordinary synth expression pedal) can be used to remotely control and sequence the FX controls - just some mini jacks with normalising contacts so it's still under standard knob control until you plug something into one.
A pity they didn't make 12 o'clock on CTRL2 be the normal pitch of the loop. Speed control would be finer and it could have been designed to go up as well as down from normal - not from stopped as it is now. Not that I don't like the FX as it is, but it's a bit heavy handed and can't be used too much.
I'll look into how I could improve control of the other FX. I've never used the reverb much as it's usually available on whatever I plug my 404 into.
