sampling with mixer

Post by dsquirrel »

Haven't got a 303 yet, so I could probably figure this out pretty quickly if I had one in front of me. However...

Is it possible to sample the real time output of a mixer via the send/return (with a wet/dry control) or do you need to plug the output of the 303 into its own channel? Just having a quick look through the manual, it has one setup for fx (using the send/return) and another for sampling (line in).

It would be nice to be able to use fx and sample records in real time without have to change the setup or use a switch box.

thanks

yes;
i've got the mackie 802vlz3 -- i've got my cd changer coming in line 5-6, the ALT output feeding the sp303, and the sp303 coming back into the mixer via RCA tape in. I set line 5-6 on MUTE/ALT 3-4, and then using the control room submix I can:
(i) play the cd (line 5-6) plain vanilla
(ii) play the cd w/ effects added (sp on ext source)
(iii) sample the cd with the sp while the cd is playing plain vanilla through the mixer
(iv) play the sample or beat or whatever on the sp303, with the cd on mute or still playing

lots of options, everything works. do others have a similar setup?

Well you can however, the 303 is very slow at loading anything. And when you are recording it stops the through signal. The 404 on the other hand does not, you can record in about real time and play almost immediately I lost my fucking mind when I figured this out. hoe this helps

You CAN use the FX of the 303 in realtime hooked up to a ttbl in real time.
