i've been noticing this for the first time since i bought a new card for my 404(sx) last month - the recorded audio has skips/gaps in it. It's like the machine can't write as fast as it should (ie in real time) so pieces end up missing and you hear a pop.

maybe my card is too slow, it's 20 MB/s... will try recording in mono to see if the same trouble occurs.

in the meantime, anyone seen this/found a solution?

in the middle, throughout the sample, and they're not really gaps in the sense of silence, more like skips - it sounds like a needle skipping too.

SX or normal 404?
I woulda thought SD cards would all be OK but maybe not I guess
if its an OG 404 then I'd say it's the card..

Is it the original Roland card? If so, replace it with the fastest you can find (166x and up). I did soon after I bought the SP, because it gave me glitches and samples losses when exchanging them between pads, for example. The new one solved these issues and on top improved overall operation speed by a noticable amount.

no, this is a Sandisk card i bought recently, i thought it worked fine but apparently not. It's 20mb/s (writing speed) - do you know what the 166x stands for in terms of speed (mb/second)?

i did not have this problem with the Roland card.

i'm gonna exchange the sandisk extreme 4 gb for another one that is faster, not 20 mb/s but 30 mb/s, so it's above the 166x mark... makes the card twice as expensive... 8-|
fingers crossed... the people from the shop are very nice allowing me to exchange it twice.

bad news, i keep getting it... yesterday i was resampling a lot and i got the gaps are back... sucks hard

the cards were both called Sandisk Extreme and made for camcorder use... the first was 4gb 20 mb/s, the second which i have now is 30 mb/s... and both give trouble in my machine (404 sx)

30 MB/sec meaning 30 megabytes (says on the back)... they gotta stop messing with familiar units though

it also says 200x
