Hey all, new to samplers and the 404sx.

I've finally pulled in a bunch of samples so I could program a pattern. When I go into pattern mode, I hit record, pick the bank/pad, hit record again and after the countdown I pick a sample to play. The sample I want is a loop. When the pattern is recording, it only plays the sample halfway through the recording and then stops it.

That is, after the count-in, I hit the pad, and after the number of measures/beats goes through what it was set to (4 for example), the sample stops playing and the recording continues through to the 4th measure (in this case) before beginning again.

The effect is that I end up with a pattern that is silence for half of it's length.

I tried to resample the main loop for a longer duration to see if maybe the sample was just too short, but that made no difference. I've tried changing the length of the pattern and the same thing seems to happen no matter what.

Any ideas? I'm not sure what I am missing with this, but I hope it's something simple.

you have "loop" turned on?? try turning it off and use quantize if you have to to make the loop "seamless". hit the sample when you want the loop to "restart" the pattern sequencer doesnt like the loop button.

Ok, I tried it without the loop and it worked pretty well.

Let me ask this, if I record a pattern, while it is still recording, can I change the quantization settings?

Thanks.

yes you can, but it will only adjust the quantization setting for the samples you will play afterthe change, not the already recorded.

for example:
quantization on 4 for seamless looping
quantization on 16 for hi hats
etc.

When I want to record a pattern, should I just set the bpm to the same bpm of any loops I have going?

I guess I generally like a loop and then ill add drums and cymbals on top of that.

Any tips appreciated.
