mic/guitar input

Hi,

I am buying a synth and drum machine. I would like to avoid the expense of buying a mixer to combine the signals.

I remember from music college that a mic is a low impedance output. If I had the right cable, do you think plugging an analogue synth (mfb nanozwerg) into the mic input, would damage my 555?

I would use the "audio in" RCA vs the MIC input. The mic input is only a mono signal. You should have no problems hooking up a synth into the 555.

the problem is the stereo out from the drum machine will be in the line ins. That only leaves the mic/jack input for the synth

Well then your synth must go into mono or you will have to buy some RCA splitters or a CHEAP mixer.... You can get a new Beringher for $50ish. RCA splitter will cost you $10 and cause you to lose signal strength from your sources. Just buy a mixer.... best sound quality, more options and it will make your life easier.

If you can afford a 555, a synth and a drum machine you can afford a cheap mixer.

Since the Nanozwerg is mono anyways, it won't be a problem as long as you don't overdrive the input. But maybe you'd even like that! Acid Techno anyone?
