SP-606/Mac OSX/Reason 4

Basically I was wondering if anyone has had luck with "sync"ing the sp-606 as a midi controller for "reason 4" or a similiar product and if so how you set everything up.

1. I uninstalled and re-installed the driver
2. I have my audio output going (through USB) from my macbook pro to my sp-606 (from there to speakers) and I have no problem hearing the audio...it's just that my computer does not recognize my sp-606 as a midi device. I followed every single direction (I think) in the driver instructions
I have a feeling it's something simple that i'm missing...any help/support would be greatly appreciated
...i've tried loading the factory settings on the sp-606 and installing the driver and using the sp606 in both INT mode and EXT.

Once again I'm using OSX and a macbook pro...

I don't have a Mac, and I've never actually seen reason outside of a magazine article so I'm not much help, sorry :oops:

One thing to try though - if you have another interface, try using the 606 as just a midi controller (through the other interface), rather than an interface+controller.

Yes.. The PC and in your case your MAC doesn't recognize your Sp606 as a Midi Interface.. well.. I look at the past reviews of the Sp606 and Paul White (from SOS) had the same issue.. To solve this problem you must delete all your Midi interfaces on your PC/Mac then install the Sp606 and then your Midi interfaces..

However, I must add that getting these various options to work took a little time. It was not, as the manual would suggest, simply a matter of installing drivers and getting on. I personally encountered a number of problems during the review, during which MIDI wouldn't work on either platform and the SP606 simply wasn't recognised by the P606 application. Audio I/O, however, was always functional. On the PC, I finally achieved the desired result by not only unplugging my normal USB MIDI and audio devices, but by uninstalling all the drivers for interfaces that weren't even connected in the first place! I then reinstalled the SP606 drivers and took several steps forward, although I still had to shut down and reboot the SP606 a couple of times after that. It's a good idea to disable reception of MIDI data by the pads, and watch out for MIDI loops. And beware of unplugging the SP606 while everything's powered up — the computer or the SP606 may get confused if you replug. None of these problems may be an issue for you, but at least you know not to panic if it doesn't work for you at first.

That's actually a 2004 review.... updates have fixed some of these issues (such as the plug/unplug problem), but unfortunately not the controller issues.
