Pretty self-explanatory subject. When playing back a looping sample, sometimes (er... often, I should say) I get a clip in the form of a 'pop' or 'click' sound where the end of the sample ends and the beginning picks back up. It seems like pure luck to not get that clipping sound in there, and I just have to try recording it over and over again until the noise isn't there. This can be tedious when I'm sampling something to a strict bpm with a strict start/end point.

Just wondering if anyone has any tips for resolving this. Any help GREATLY appreciated :)

the way i avoid it, but this may not work in your situation is to cut the sample off by restarting it, either from a sequence that loops or by (manually) retriggering the sample. so you would have the sample a little longer than the part you need, and just have the beginning cut in on the loop point. for some reason that doesn't give any pops most of the time.

otherwise take it into the computer and edit out the pop there, surgeon style.

if you set your start and end points properly that should not be a problem. once you have them marked fine tune it with the ctrl 1 and 2 until it starts exactly on the point you want...

also layering other sounds covers it up, some drums, whatever, then runnin some vinyl sim on the whole thing in the end, you can't even tell, it can be obnoxious sometimes though, sometimes there is nothing you can do about it, especially depending what your trying to cut on, like if there is alot goin on in the music, or its in the middle of a note or maybe like a drone or something........

on a related note, sometimes if i resample something with the lofi effect on (OG 404), there is a permanent click at the begginning and end of the sample no matter what, i could resample a sound twice with space in the middle, mark it for the second one, and move the start and end points anywhere and it still has a click, even if its in the dead air well after the sample is done, anybody ever notice that?? its only certain effects, i think its always been the lofi as a filter for me

This probably happens because you stop sampling at a point which in there's no silence..This is one of the reasons why I like to edit my samples on the computer where you can see the wave form and cut it or stop it at a point that has silence or really low amplitude. If I have to stop it in a point that has noise in - a quick sharp fade out should take care of it.
