Re: nano studio for i touch
yeah, its weird cause it could actually be a better system than a sp. tho the sp is quick with resampling and lovely machines, the nano studio has mute groups, a sequences, very nice synths, attack and decay on your samples, visual editing and buses. i was on that thing for like 3 hours. i resampled a synth and layered some other shit on top and looped the fuck out of it on the pads and rocked 3 patterns on the pads. i cant believe that developers are makin shit like this for the touch device and its only 8.99, reason is like 400 bucks. weird world we live in. i gonna bang beats on the toilet now and riding the bus. you could now make beats 24/7.
much props to those developers.

Re: nano studio for i touch
I'm just saving up for one of these to go along with my itouch.
http://www.alesis.com/protrack

It has two 1/4" input, two phantom xlr inputs, two decent cardioid mics and headphone monitoring. It runs on batteries or you can plug it in ( it will charge idevice while plugged in). It works with pretty much all iOS apps that allow you to record audio in.

Well with the progress of things I don't see why using an idevice isn't a 'solid' option for making serious music/production.
Akai is coming out with this controller http://www.akaipro.com/synthstation25

There are a few companies that have midi in/out cables so you can use any controller you want. http://line6.com/midimobilizer/

Along with that Alesis interface I posted above, this would be one hell of a backpack studio!!

Think about it this way.... look at the screen and interfaces we are used to working with on the SP samplers. Having a nice bright, color, multitouch display with a tactile interface is like a dream come true.
ipod touch - $200
Alesis Interface/mic - $150
Line6 midi - $60
Akai midi keyboard - $100
I also have an audio input solution I made for $30. It gives me RCA input (mono only, but with a dual RCA input adapter) and RCA or 1/8" stereo out. It looks like a giant octopus of cables, but it's very effective!

I also forgot to mention another important thing about this setup. Nanostudio has a free PC and Mac counterpart. So when you get tired of using the small screen you can go to the computer and work on the same files!
