ditto on the card juggling. i can deal.
i have wanted this software way before the 555 came out. it is rather stifling to have to import/export files the way it is. also it would really be nice to make this soft capable of drag and drop file exchanging(provided it's 16bit, 44.1; which is understood). same as chg file.
as far as moving between sp's this would be nice but i only have the 404 right now. i gave the 505 to my brother. i will be buying the 555 this winter though so it would really be nice to see these two working together on my pc.
great job Mike!

one more thing would it be possible to import samples (or even patterns) from other brand gear(akai, korg)? prolly not just checking.

simple software wave converter for building & organizing sample banks on your computer like the SP-555 , thats it.

Mmmm, perhaps off track too since you said 'simple', but a software sample auto-chop feature that assigns the freshly chopped samples to the SP 555 converter would be AWESOME! That would solve all my problems at once hahaha. :)

Problems as in having no good workflow because I don't own any software that can do chopping in an acceptable way.

Unless the 707 shows up before soon ;) , I'm probably going to buy a SP 606 especially for the P 606 software and the chop-feature on the SP-606.

As for the 404 software, the more support the better and thanks! 8)

ok this tread just blew me away. A sample organisation program for the 404 would be absolutly amazing. I play in a electronica/rock band and use a lot of samples live and it can be a really pain in the ass to impoert everyone..

So my wishes would be:

1. easy importing of samples to every pad/bank on the 404. Not only 12 samples a time.

2. all the converting would happen on the software so i didn't had to wait for the samples to load when i importet them to the 404 for the first time.

3. a back up system(you mentioned it mike) so you could back up every bank not just the internal ones. This would make a 1gb card actually usable. Now i have to use a bounch of 128/256 cards just because it don't have more banks than to fill up 128mb anyway. i can't use a computer live so it would have to make backupbanks on the 404..

4. a little windows with some easy sample editing would be great. Say a autochop for chopping it up to 8 pieces and a little dj-like mutething. so we could make a "good bye" sample be like " go-o-o-od by-y-yyy-e"

5. of course a nice looking interface;)

its all just my wishlist. I think it would benefit every 404 user a great deal. i am happy even if you just make one of my points but yeah yeah. can't complain if you don't shout out what you want.

i would also like to thank you so mutch for doing this. This actually makes me like rolandgear even more. And the next time i am going to buy something i know that it isn't that hard to get in touch with roland to suggjest fair updates/upgrades.

Thanks mike, hope the p404 will be downloadable at rolandus.com soon:D

Yeah, but you're a Dj so you can freak the pitch on your tables better than most can with software.

I like the idea of a program to organize files because I don't own an SP 404 yet but my biggest negative right now is the way it handles the importing/exporting of files.

I'd kill someone for a decent pitchshift.. That's prolly the biggest minus of the 404 at the moment!! but anyways props to Roland for great customer support and products.

Sometimes if I can't stretch it right in the sp, I'll load the sample to Acid pro and stretch it out right and load it on the card and freak the drums live in the sp while I record. Hope that helps and if you can't buy Acid Pro ya'll need to be fucking with this program http://vemberaudio.se/shortcircuit.php, you'll thank me later 'cause the guy who made this worked on the new ableton so rest assured you can do some ill shit like +/- 96 semitone pitchshift.

OK mike, please read this :

-simple conversion of samples, organizing and copying.
-pattern hearing and copying
-back up system
-an import function allowing you to pitch the 12 half steps at once :
you get your Pianoc3.wav, clic the option and suddenly you get 12 wav files ready to be imported, chromatically spaced, corresponding to c3-c#3-d3... and so on. Of course by pitch I mean "real" pitch, which slow down or speed up samples. is that clear ?

again, many thanks for taking care of your consumers

I would rather see dedicate copy functions for samples and patterns and a true pitch shift implemented in the os and saving the bpm of individual patterns would be nice as well.
