I got one a few days ago, and it seems to screw up when I select the pads to be effected with the remain button. It works most of the time, but occasionally changes it to some random pad once in a while, especially after switching to another effect or switching an effect off. It's really weird because afterwards the effect can sometimes remain on, but the effect's indicator light goes off, but apparently sometimes at a slightly different effect depth level (and that's without touching the knobs-it's clearly effected but sometimes sounds a little different than the normal effect), and I can normally turn the effect off only if I turn it on again and it lights and then press off to really turn it off.

I tried using a new sD card, re-initialized everything, make my own patterns and samples, and it still does it. I am suspecting it's the OS.

Does this sound familiar to other SP-404SX users here?

Or at least chime in if this doesn't happen to you, but note that you may have to be playing for a couple of minutes for this to happen, constantly changing effects and the samples which get the effects.

Is this somehow reproducible using a specific approach to using the FX?

If so, this is certainly a bug of some sorts.

I do think it's possibly a bug, as I recall something similar with my (older) SP-404. In most cases the remain button will function as expected with mine though.

Not really, just changing the effects, for example going from delay to reverb (both within the multi and outside of it), or to the isolator, or changing which pads get the effect, but doing it a lot.

The really weird thing is after this happens it usually does the thing where the effect light is off and the effect on (the other way around too), have to switch it a few times to get it back to work normally.

Actually I was using it with pre-recorded patterns, both user and preset, and it did it in both pattern and regular mode.

I think on the regular 404 you can't select the pads to get the effect with the remain key in pattern mode, on the SX it doesn't seem to matter and the manual doesn't say anything, but it bugged in both modes anyways.

The only thing I used the pads for is selecting the patterns and the pads to get the effect with the remain, I didn't really play them.

The effect simply became active on one pad only (out of say, 7 pads which were supposed to have the effect). It didn't matter if the pad had the effect on before or not, it seemed quite random, and (I think) I even checked if it had anything to do with the last "active" pad, and it didn't seem to.

I already returned my SX, but I remember it would do weird stuff also if you removed the effect from all the pads or all but one or something, but I do remember it doing when I had 4 or more pads at the same time set with remain, so this wouldn't explain it either.
