Part settings?

I'm having a hard time understanding the Part settings.. On the MC-505 Groovebox there is 8 Part settings.. You can mute them and unmute them ina song song.. The question is do I have to copy patterns over and over to apply the mute part or can I use that one pattern? I tried to do it once but it didnt work.. am I be doing something wrong?

I cant find Part Mute and how to apply it in a song within the Manual.
I'll look AGAIN.. But I just haven't found it.

you can do that easly don't worry.
mute/unmute is like on the grooveboxes.
