Beat battle competition 2010

Post by E.Simon »

Hey guys,
I got this idea a beat battle competition on the forums(SP-based)
we gonna rank it something like this:
Pos Name Win/Lose Points
1 ....... 5-0
2 ....... 4-1
3 ....... etc
4 .......
5 .......
etc etc

but do we need a jury or just the votes system?
Maybe we need to make some battle kit (breaks, drums) we could use the whole competition.
maybe you guys could help me thinking it out, so it will be a a good competition.

hope there will be enough animor this one.
let's do this one BIG!

something else that might be more effective than the all or nothing voting system would be having to rate peers' beats on a scale of 1-10 (highest) in categories such as:

composition
sound design
creativity
overall effect

and then add up the scores for the final comparison with a designated judge for a tie breaker using the all or nothing system. I'm not sure if we could easily automate this via the webpage, but it would be easy to punch into an excel table.

I don't quite understand this. Is this rating for only one big battle? Or a new rating system for all the battles?

I think either, really. I think people are just having a few concerns with the current system.

I kinda like what IIIII was suggesting, that seems like a balanced way to judge.

Hmm, we could check into giving 5/5 kind of scores on certain aspects of a beat or song for sure, but I'd fear we need some more sophisticated forum software to make it happen.

Someone should contact Keesj about this. I'd support it, but I think it would be neat to have it incorporated with the forum voting software instead of separate excel sheets or extensive postings in a battle voting thread.

This needs some proper streamlining to be comfortable, all I'm saying.

Anyhow, I definitely like this idea.

True, but I don't think keesj really does anything around here anymore, he seems pretty busy.
