CANADIANS POST HERE ABOUT THE SCENE IN YOUR AREA!!!!
Hi I've seen a few Canadian dudes on here. I'm interested to know about what the scene for Lo Fi Indie beat stuff and rap is like where you live. I live in Regina Sask and there is pretty much NO scene. There is a few VERY talented rappers who get by from a small core of fans. I want to know places IN CANADA I could tour and build listeners.

Shit, I know Toronto has to have something.. there's tons of dudes making good hip hop but for the most part theyre outshined by the bullshit. If anyone knows of anything let me know, I'd be down..

Ya lots of BS coming out of toronto, the fake glam hood shit. Who are some dope beat scientists you would recommend?Johnny Canuck wrote:Shit, I know Toronto has to have something.. there's tons of dudes making good hip hop but for the most part theyre outshined by the bullshit. montreal has a strong compliment of our kind of sound, but i'm not really in the scene. obviously, ninja tune is based here so there are DJ nights and gigs and such, and sixtoo and ghislain poirier live here, so fragmented instrumental and laser hip hop have some representation. there are also a coupla dudes i've come across on the mpc forums who live here and do some good ish. francophone hip hop is alive, and mostly pretty good, but i don't really follow it too hard. weirdly, i really dig hip hop, but i don't really dig rap, and that's most def the focus for franco hip hop.
really, the scene i'm most familiar with is me, in the home studio, cracking out the beats on my own. you know? i fuggin love that scene.

You should check out my dude Ira Lee. He's from Regina, but does his thing out of Montreal now. He's one of my fav's in Canada period, I'm just lucky to have gotten to work with him(he;s done jams with k the i from ninja tune).fauna wrote:montreal has a strong compliment of our kind of sound, but i'm not really in the scene. obviously, ninja tune is based here so there are DJ nights and gigs and such, and sixtoo and ghislain poirier live here, so fragmented instrumental and laser hip hop have some representation. there are also a coupla dudes i've come across on the mpc forums who live here and do some good ish. francophone hip hop is alive, and mostly pretty good, but i don't really follow it too hard. weirdly, i really dig hip hop, but i don't really dig rap, and that's most def the focus for franco hip hop.

yooo my garage is the hot pony
got a 606, 303, 404, str80 with vinyl some synths, speakers, usually the green is smoking and i get some live instruments in there sometimes, ladies, beer, dogs, fire pit, some bikes if you feel like wildin' out
gaslamp was here last week ... a.k.a not much of a scene
it's mostly dubsteppers stepping all over the place
