Help for newbie

Post by Merting »

Hi guys, a few weeks ago I bought a SP-555 and joined the SP-owners family. I have a small problem about CompactFlash cards. I bought a 4GB CompactFlash card which doesn't seem to work on the sampler (it doesn't even turn on), and it's also stated in the catalogue that it works from 32 mb up to 2GB (which I just realized). Is there any chance that I'm able to work the CompactFlash on the sampler? I'm not able to turn the flash card back too. Thank you.

Note: I don't know if this is the right forum or not, so excuse me if it is so.

not really bro... partitions with roland samplers dont really work like they would on others...

best bet is to hop online and search for some... heres a site that has a few

http://scsiforsamplers.com/flashcards.asp

other than that you may have to digg deeper for some... might be a lil cheaper too..

Yeah, I would just ask friends and family if they have any compact flash cards laying around. You'd be surprised how many devices take them. Also don't sweat it if you can only find a 512mb or 1gb as those hold a TON of samples. Most of the beats I make I end up only using 10mb out of 1gb.

Don't be afraid to make a "wanted" ad on craigslist either.

Thanks alot. That's what I'll most probably due. Stores don't seem to sell anything lower than 4GB, though I was able to find 2GB and 1GB CompactFlash cards on online stores.

That's exactly what my cousin told me. I'd be surprised if I find a 512 mb card though, the lower the memory, the rarer they pop up around here. I'll probably order one online, and use the card for photos.

Thanks alot for the help guys :).
