Re: MUTE TIPS!?!
maybe resample yourself doin the mutes live?? i have been gettin into usin the isolator as the mute lately (same difference) and just doin live muting along with the filter for usually a bass only sound or a sweeping filter over a main melody to bassline, and usually one of the MFX like DJFX on reverse with the lowest loop setting possible (effect 24 with knobs at the lowest value) and just try and stay on my remain game, always gotta make sure you hit a pad that is gonna have an effect on last, that shit will throw you off, like if you wanna turn off the effect for the sample and not the drums and you go into remain and turn off the sample one, unless you currently have the effect on, it then selects that pad for the next effect, even if it isn't lit up, its still selected, so you have to hit one of the drums pads off and back on to keep your effects remain group the same as it was, its helpful to keep all your pads you want to have effects on in one or two banks so you can access it easily and get as busy as possible
Re: MUTE TIPS!?!
i like using "remain" to select the pads you wanna mute, then assigning them MFX 23.
turn knob 3 to "on", and when you start yr sequence, and the pads you 'remained' will be muted. turn it to "off" and they come back in.
also if you turn knob 1 & 2 to the left, then when you turn knob 3 "off" these pads will kick back in without being run thru the MFX 23.
also, obviously, using the sub-sonic will mute pads you've 'remained'.

Re: MUTE TIPS!?!
If you have a sample in GATE mode you can always tap it to stop that sound, but just making another pattern is the your best bet.

Re: MUTE TIPS!?!
sometimes i hit gate on samples i sequenced regular and then the next time around it just plays a fraction of the sound, kind of a mute. it plays it gated for as long as you held it down in the original recording, so if you know you're gonna do this you can either just tap it in or keep it going 1 or 2 beats so when you hit gate in playback it just cuts it out

Re: MUTE TIPS!?!
Create a dummy bank and hit blank pads to limit poly while pAtterns going?
Re: MUTE TIPS!?!
maybe use resample to build yr beats, putting in yr mute groups as you record?
hit these loops live, or use the sequencer to just play em back in whatever sequence.

Re: MUTE TIPS!?!
sometimes ill use my mixer to mute with if i have an effect already being used in the 404.
Re: MUTE TIPS!?!
track out your beats??? haha not what you are looking for i know but MUTES are the weakest point of the sp's in my opinion. I would even record a live 2 min drum tracks with improvs then another track of the sample all the way through with mutes and improvs(if you have a DAW). Then you can mute stuff after too.
