LinnDrumII on hold

Post by Mr. Davenport »

I just read that Roger Linn and that other guy have put the LinnDrumII aside for now because of the consumer demand and the current economic state. With all of the features on it, it would be an expensive machine and unaffordable for many people. BUT, he said they will be releasing a new or, several new samplers in the next year that will be groundbreaking but very affordable. I'm a lil let down about the LDII but curious to see what the other samplers are all about.

Pretty big let down on but understandable, it's just bad timing. I'd still be interested if they came with some SP type sampler with the features we've been posting here for Roland to pick up on. As long as people continue to buy essentially the same sampler 404/404sx/555 for such high prices their company has zero incentive to make the uber_sampler for us.

it makes sense...I'd almost rather it be that way..roger linn can make great drum machines so he should focus on that and nowadays people want value so to split them up would be a great idea...he just needs to focus on the build quality and sound quality..the swing and OS i'm not worried about from Roger

I'm very disappointed. This is close to a simply cancelled product as can be. In fact, I am pretty sure the project as a whole already failed. Too ambitious, too expensive, even though it would have been good. At what price?

There has also been talk about investors running off because of the economic crisis.

I don't think going for smaller samplers is the solution, no matter how 'breathtaking'. The sampler crowd got pretty excited about the LinnDrummII even though it was pretty much just a name thing for a very long time.

I think I've officially lost my interest in LDII. It being on the backburner has been a fact for a while now.

From what Ive heard is it would have been a fairly expensive piece. Like $2,500.00. thats a lil' bit out of my price range.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean he's immune to failure. The LinnDrumm II isn't the first thing that got cancelled (okey put on hold, but that's basically the same in practice for a machine that has been in development for over 5 years now).

No of course.. I just meant he deserves as much credit as Linn does

eff the linndrum.

they waited too long. when it was first announced hardware was dying. and now it's almost dead. if they gonna market this thing now it better as hell have a sub 1000 price or i ain't interested. although it'll probably go the same as all hardware based units nowadays, ie. charge through the fucking rough and the connoisseurs will still come running.
