can i do something so that i have say a 6 sec long sample with gate off, but there is a part where i want it to only play the first 3 sec until another sample comes in to say cancel the rest of the first sample out? I kno i could just make it into 2 samples of different lengths but id rather not. any ideas?
btw i got this thought from watching a video with the mpd24 (cuz i was thinking of buying it off a friend) where the dude changed the polyphony setting to 1 so it canceled the other sample out

Re: sample canceling out
to my knowledge, with the sp-404/sx, there's no polyphony settings nor any sample choke mode.
it'd be cool though!
but nah, sorry

Re: sample canceling out
could you use loop mode, so that you tap it once to start playing, then tap it again to turn it off? not exactly ideal, but I think its the best you'll get.
Samples.

i had this thought myself a few months back, i think its something that i think nobody really does in pattern mode, but using loop to turn a sample on and off gives you alot of flexibility if you got a sample that you wanna cut off at a few different points but all start at the same point, and i would just go no quantize on the turn off and sequence it til i get it exactly right, some samples would be harder to work with than others obviously, but still, could be an excellent tip/trick to use
