korg electribe emx-1 (blue) or microkorg

Post by Dj_just_jeff »

Yo guys, Im going to buy one of these i cant decide which one. I have had both in the past. I plan on using it to rec synth parts in my MV. They are both used and 200 each. I like the arpeggiator on the microkorg, i know the electribe has one but i like the buttons on the microkorg. Let me know what you think.

The MK has fatter sounds, but the EMX is more versatile. I would get the EMX just because in the end you can do more with it. Even use it as a sequencer or FX box if you need to. Not to mention it comes with some decent drums which can be nice when u wanna get a basic beat going and don't wanna chop a break. Since you've owned both I'm sure you know wut I'm talking about.

if you want to use it just for its sound , take the MK
if you want to use the sounds to after manipulate it on the MV,then take the emx...

Go the EMX man, i have the microkorg and now considering getting the emx. It's much more versatile in term of sound manipulation and live performance

the mk will give you more open ended possibilities and i think probably has better sounds overall
the emx is real nice : 3x effects, 5 synth parts at the same time, drums, and knob movement programming

I say get teh EMX.. . theres a software app that lets you play it polyphonically when its plugged in by using more than one synth part with the same sound.. and that was really the only thing the MK had over the emx, was polyphony.

Thankx guys. I still like the arpeggiator on the MK, I know the electribe has the ribbon arp, but it is not as controllable. I have a em-1 and a ea-1mkII for my live PA synth stuff, I was thinking of getting the MK for drum and bass and using the MV for drums and sequencing. The MK seems like it would be easy to get nice baselines from and if i would find a sound i like, I can tweak it a little and build that sound into a arp. Does this make sense? Thanks guys.

I'm not sure what you mean re arpeggiator..

the emx sequencer is more powerful than the MK's arpeggiator .. and also the emx has the ribbon+slider arp control too
