Damn you've got an mbase coming too...that's gonna be a dope setup! The tetra can do some pretty decent kicks, but I can see how it would be nice to have a machine like mbase that's dedicated to kicks.

It's funny you mention Thom Yorke bacause that was the first thing that came to mind when I played a few chords on the tetra. Then I learned that he used a prophet 5 on a few albums. :D I'm not saying the tetra sounds exactly like a prophet 5 but they do sound similar in some ways.

Have you played with the software editor yet?

yeah, the software editor is quite nice - but with fixed midi controls on my keyboard + the assign params way of working, I find it easy enough to edit without the soft..

my only complaint is it woulda been nice if there was a way to input sequencer notes via keyboard, ( I guess I could make a note number-> CC converter in Max) but besides that I got no issues..

You're right.. the tetra can do fat kicks too :) I just want all 4 of its chans to be free for other sounds when i am jamming live.

So since I can't fit the SP-404 into my mixer at the moment I've started using it a little bit like a recorder/arranger - playing keys into it and recording loops off my drum machine, treating the 404 kinda like a mini-DAW, it's good to be away from the computer and quite a nice way of doing things (having a multitrack would be nice tho)

yeah at the moment I have

ES-1 + tetra (in stereo output mode) -> mixer (send to delay/reverb)->SP404.. so nice fx chain!

I'm not actually doing live jams right now, will start that once the mbase is here. . just been making some chill triphop/folktronic/wtfeveritscallednow kinda music

I'm not sure what it will be but sequencer slew and new arp modes were added to the mopho, so we'll probably get those for the tetra. There's a guy that works for DSI on the gearslutz forum and he mentioned something about giving the tetra OS a real work over.
Here's the thread:

Haha yes, as a fan, the awesome orange is a must. But I'm aiming more for the XTensive controls :)
