I have been recently making music under this name Selbst Ist , It is folktronica ish ambient tracks, I wonder if anyone else makes music under these genres or knows of any artist who use the SP to create these genres, I know four tet is one, Kim Hiorthoy uses MPC , also if anyone has any techniques for this style or tracks they've made please send me link , I have found that putting together these styles is much harder recording straight into sampler, I feel to get perfect looped audio, it should be put together in software and import to pads , I made first track by trimming piano notes and drums in Sony Acid 7 and importing to pads, when I tried to sample and trim straight in SP I grew very irritated and cumbersome , they should use those leds as audio wavs at least to trim , like ...,,;;//llll so you have some idea to crop , thanks again :)

fourtet (as you say) is an obvious one, as are animal collective / panda bear's solo work, and El Guincho.

you should look for stuff by tuung - not using an sp (as far as i know) but good, cut-up folktronic stuff.

i find making folktronic material on the sp to be just as easy as using a software and importing back. but maybe that's just me. filtering, fx and weird cuts come far easier on the box than in the software, i find.

getting used to cutting up samples on the SP is just a matter of practice - its hard going from computer being able to see everything, you need to retrain your brain to use ears instead of eyes...

so if you feel like it, stick with it it will get easier.. but if not.. using computer never hurt anyone

hello,
i'm recently thinking of buying an sp-505, but i'm curious; will i be able to sample something that a member played on guitar, keyboards etc live and immedietly start playing (looping, effecting etc) with the sp, while the playing session continues? i don't know if sp is a good choice on a live weirdfolk session. any comments appreciated,
thanks!!
