why the ns10 are so horrible? maybe because are they're a little straight and direct, without many bass?
many studios have them to check the sound, so it's strange for me to ear that...

OT Lonestar check your pm please.

Yes, those are the HS50m model. They have control switches on the back where you can cut or boost mids/his/bass separately so you can compensate if you know your room for example reflects highs a lot, but more or less it's good b/c you can switch from the "flat" bare bone no bass sound to which ellaguru was referring in the NS10, to more of a "listening" mode where it boosts <500 Hz by 4dB, similarly you can turn up the mids and highs for listening and keep it flat for monitoring

Dope Set-Up. How do you like the ESX? How do you use it with the SP?

I'm always amused by the size of the 303 when sat next to the 2000xl, all that space saved.

True, but the difference in functionality is even greater than the difference in size if you ask me....making music isn't about saving space, just saying lol

In the average bedroom studio, which 99% of us seem to have, space IS an issue ;)

idk i see a lot of pretty serious set ups in this thread man, rooms that look dedicated to music. plus the 2000xl only takes up about as much desk/table space as a large widescreen laptop, it's not like it's a mixing board or some shit...

Thanks Bridge, the ESX is a really dope versatile unit, basically a poor man's Machine drum. A good buddy of mine Formal from this forum recommended it to me so i found one on Craig's list for 250 and havent looked back, It's added a lot of structure to my stream of consciousness style of playing/recording. Ive only had it for 6 months and barely starting to scratch the surface , In my laboratory its one of my most versatile tools. I use it for controlling my tabletop budget synth , chopping drum breaks with the time slice, sequencing drums, slight filtering and modulation, New batch of effects, panning, Bass lines, etc. Since i never rock the 404s sequencer, it adds quantized sequenced stuff to add to my live playing with the 404 giving my improvisations some structure and direction, and has taught me a lot about playing drums thanks to the visual step sequencer. My tubes pretty much been bad since i got it and i still would never sell it. The ESX gives you easy instant gratification in programming thanks to the easy interface, but still is complex enough to grow and master. All this being said this is sort of a strange sampler the work flow as is much different then the sp line, but I think alongside with a sp you get the best of both worlds and the combo would be great for any style of music

New addition to my multiFX its the ultra rare SONY DPS V77... this thing have it all...
Reverbs, plates, pitch shifters, delays, chorus, flangers, phasers, compressors, limiters, distortion, EQ, vocoder, harmonization in desired key, tape simulation... amp simulator, filter, auto wah...
vocal modeling presets, mastering presets, guitar and bass amp simulation...
digital ins and outs beside ordinary balanced and unbalanced connectors...
true stereo unit, top shit... whatever you plug in, it sound fantastic.
56 bit internal processing, 2 FX blocks that can be morphed in desired time.
It is unbelievable for a 15 years old fx processor... now I have digitech studio quad V1 and Zoom studio 1202 rack multis for sale if anyone is interested.

Haha I was actually going to mention I want a machinedrum but oh man the price. I've been one click away from buying a +drive on nova musik, but can't bring myself to spend that much. ESX might cure what ails me in the xox style sequencing department.

the track mute and solo functions on the esx had me sleepin on the 404 from the get go... when i saw that the 606 had a step sequencer AND 16 pads i got all excited.. its not like the korg but im still loving the 606 over the 404... its a good fit coming off the esx with the tracks and long sampletime like the 404... i think im gonna be more dedicated to the 606... although i already miss the pitch knob on the esx..
