MINI DISC RECORDER?

Post by nferns88 »

Hey ya'll,
so I have been struggling to find a way of recording my performance so I can begin putting stuff on myspace, and putting together demos. I have heard that a mini disc recorder is perfect to do so. Does anyone use one currently? Is it efficient? Any model recommendations? What are the steps involved to record?

If you want to put stuff online, it makes no sense not to record with the PC. Just get any half-decent audio interface, and you're fine.

If you used a minidisk recorder, you would run into a few unneccessary problems:
It's lossy, it uses data compression. Degrades the sound. Maybe you won't notice (depends on your ears and system), but it's there.
Then you have it on minidisc. What now? Indeed, you STILL need to get it onto the pc somehow. Recording to minidisc (or any other non-PC recording device without wave export capability) is nothing more than a completely obsolete intermediate step.
