Potholes beat sampler

Post by Sinapse »

Much love to the SP Forums

I know a lot of ya'll are familiar with my emceeing now since the "Smoke Rings" tape has been getting a lot of feedback here, thanks for that!!

Anyway I also been working a lot more on production the last several months and I'm planning my jumpoff in that arena for the somewhat near future. Here is a rather long (15 mins), but fast moving (19 tracks), sampler of the first set of possible beats I made for a tape I'm going to produce called "Potholes", which will be all local Philly collaborations. Curious to see what some ears think of the beats, so if you have a bit, please listen thru what you can and let me know....

Thanks a lot for downloading.

Just so everyone knows tho I don't expect a thorough review or nothing like that, it's not really a project, just a sampler of beats...I'm trying to get some general impressions.

Thanks a lot for all the listens and comments, really appreciate it fellas.

@ Culprit...yessir, these are all 303 joints, tho they are not made solely on the 303..i use the dr202 to play drums and bass, but they go thru my mixer and into the 303, the sound i go for is based on the 303's compressors (mfx12 and the vinyl sim compressor). i had a 606 but it's gone, i hated it, i'm considering getting a 404 to pair with the lil guy since they function more or less the same. yea some of the tempos are up there, i like wild joints but i'm def working on making some more down tempo stuff to keep it balanced. thanks for the comments.

Hey Sin, I checked your tape.
Really nice mix of the whole material - thats what struck me at first.

10:45 is my favourite joint. Shit is lo-fi as hell

Fucking Illllll. Somebody been putting work in on the beats lol. What I loved the most was the drums and the obvious improvement with the timing. Very ill... and variations of the snares was great. Sample work was on point also... a lot different feels... The uptempo grooves killed it for me. Overall great listen!!! Going for a second one.

DONT SLEEP ON THIS!!!
