yo so i just got logic and think its dope but one question. . .and sadly i think i know the answer but say i make a beat on my 404 sequenced and all, i wanna keep that alll sequenced but have each sample on its own track in logic. . .do i have to just put each sample in individually on its own track then sequence it all over again in logic?? or is there some way to have them separated

I know some people use the isolation effect to mute all of the samples that you don't want to record. so for example if you have a beat with a chopped sample, a bassline and some drums and you just want the chopped up sample on the first track in logic you would assign the isolation effect to all of your drum and bass samples and turn all three knobs down, muting all of samples that aren't your chopped up lead sample. then you would do the same thing for any other parts of the beat that you wanted on it's own track in logic, just use the isolation effect to mute everything else and track out your beats like that.

hope that's clear

yea thats helpful. . .but that made me think, why not just turn the volume of the other samples down rather than using isolation?

i did this in logic the other day using a midi to usb cord plugged into the 404 and comp. then used mfx 23 (bpm looper) to mute out the different samples and ran thru the song once for each sound. it worked! on a loop based song i want to try just exporting the samples and rebuilding it in the comp. but for sequences this method has worked the best for me. the midi to usb is essential unless you are a scientist/ninja or want to zoom in 100% and get frustrated chopping the start point (maybe thats just me tho)

wait i think i know what your sayin but a little confused. . .so youve plugged your midi out into the 404 midi in and are controlling the 404 via midi? and your controlling patterns via midi? this way you can edit exactly where it starts because it is midi data in your DAW right?

sort of but not all of that... the 404 doesnt send any midi data so im not getting my sequence in the cpu as midi(that would be cool tho), i could probably control the patterns order from the computer but i dont, i just use the midi-usb wire to make the 404 start the pattern when i hit record in the DAW, that way i can go thru and have it all seperated without having to line everything up in the DAW.

one trick i can tell so far (if anyone wants to do this) is to assess what your 'midi delay' needs to be (maybe btwn 8-10ms) this is a parameter that will compensate for tiny lags that occur for whatever reason and make sure everything comes in as close to the 1 as possible
