play a whole song-- from pattern 1 to the end of the song (or loop through a selection of patterns)? it'd be nice to be able to bang away at the different sample pads without having to switch back to advance to the next pattern.

as far as i'm aware, there's no possible way to chain patterns together to create a song. would be nice though

you would be cool if there was a a pc program to control the patters with a midi cable. then you could play live samples while the patterns go in an order...

So how you Guys make whole song using one of 404s? Record exact patterns (intro, verse, chorus, bridge, etc. ) on computer and build complex song from recorded patterns in cool edit or something? What is the simpliest way to build a whole song from patterns?

funny, i just bought my 404 to do it the other way around...

I can imagine a future version having a mode where midi notes can trigger the patterns and there's a bank that's reserved for "song" patterns that sequence the ordinary patterns.

your best bet would be to bounce down your pattens by recording the output of the sp into a computer, tape deck, etc. after that, record those back in and assign to pads. After this is done, trigger those samples in pattern record mode with a longer pattern. A trick here would be to slow down the speed of your track by 1/2...it would give you 298 bars instead of 99. to get the switches perfect, youll probably want to set quantize to half notes.

I was thinking about it. I suppose that patterns as samples should have no free space at the beginnig and at the end, right? Cause if there was a space, it would damage all song, I think.
Wonder also how record each pattern into multitrack... Something snare track 1, hihat track 2, etc... to mix it up better... Do you think it makes sense to bother? Have you recorded pattern that way?
