Mor Questions Needed Answering Please ASAP!?

Hey whats up guys? Well I have a few more questions soo im gonna get str8 to em b4 I forget em...

1. When you sample off of records and you have drums or samples or hits ~N~ Stabs that you like how do you go about saving those to compact flash on the sp?

2.When you have a folder of drums on your pc then you send them to your sp will the sp make them into a kit automatically? Or will you jus have to pick them individually on each pad when you want new sounds to play with in your beats.

3. Say if I eq or filter a sample will it stay like that if I turn my machine off and I want to go back to it or will i have to resample that sound with the effects on it to another pad?

If anyone can answer these that would be great.....Thanx guys

To save samples to the compact flash, simply enter the card utility (FUNC+ pad 10) and hit file export. Select the pad of the sample you wish to export and viola. Note that the file will automatically be named (based on pad bank and pad number of the sample).

The best way to load kits to the sp is to make a wav file of your kit (one wav with kick, snare, hats) and use the chopper to assign the hits to each pad. The sp will not automatically load files.

The effects data is not remembered (thanks to flash memory), so you would have to resample.

sooo I f I have drum sounds on my compact flash card I have to load individual hits to each pad if I want to use the sounds from the card cause making loops of each sound would take up alot of time....I guess I will stick to loading each sound individually unless theres another way?

The only problem with loading single shots is the file limit the sp has with the compact flash. It only reads a certain number, and once it is exceeded, some files won't show (I don't know the limit, but with shots, the files add up quick). You can bypass this problem by sampling shots to the pads. You can use the Sample loop edit screen to clean up the sample's start/end point, and you don't make flies on your card. Be sure to save backup data to preserve samples!

If you have wav shots and a DAW, you can insert your shots within a track leaving space in between shots. Export the wav to compact flash and chop with the chopper on the sp. I'd say it is about the same amount or faster than loading single shots.

If not, loading single shots is the only route for you to go

You should download the manual and look it up... for the SP-555 there's a file limit (amount of files) on flash cards ... If more than 160 files are present on the flash card 'unexpected operation may occur'. I take it the file limit on the SP-606 are much lower though because it only supports up to 512Mb cards...

Actually the 606 can read up to 200 files. Probably because it has so many more banks...

To get around the file limit, simply load your one shots into a computer sequencer (any will do, even a free one) and render them out as one file. Presto, drumkits for your SP. Use the chopper to spread them across the pads.

Bit silly that exceeding the file limit on the 555 causes an error - no such problem on the 606 (the extra files just wont show up)

since the limit os 200 I dont think I will even use 200 sounds in one beat....I dont even think I will use 200 pads...lol Thanx 606 man

Naw, it probably doesn't give an error just like with the 606 actually, but I haven't ran into that limit just yet hahaha! 160 is more than enough too I think ... (although with a 2Gig flash card instead of a 1Gb you might hit it sooner though.. )

Unless you use heaps of small samples you'll never get near it... 2 gig is cool though as you could have 160 BIG files (several minutes each!) and still have room..
