Midi device question

Post by IIIII »

Havn't seen any questions like this around, although it concerns some basic midi techniques I believe. So I want to synch two 404's together with my alesis micron, but only the bpm. I need a device with 3 midi outs that I can control the bpm with, and they all act accordingly... I don't really want the devices triggering eachother or anything, I still want to control them manually. Just have the bpm all matched up at once. I'm not sure if its possible, or even if such a device exists. its hard to sift through all the search results, so if anyone could suggest some products it would be nice.

Luckily the Micron can send out midi clock!
Reference manual, page 105, "8. Midi Sync"
A third setting, “gen MIDI clock,” generates tempo information
and sends it out via the Micron’s (MIDI OUT) port.

However you can only sync one 404 to it this way. For more machines to sync up you need a so-called MIDI-THRU box, more or less just a distributor with one input and several outputs. Your micron's output would go to the input of the thru box, and its outputs to the two 404s. Set the micron to send out midi clock, and the 404s to receive it, respectively.

IIIII, that's exactly what you need, yes.

Johnny lol, at least it's better than "Made in U.S.A"

Still doesn't beat "Made in Germany"(tm) though
