Yesterday I was talking with a friend who recently bought a SP-404SX and I was telling him how Vinyl Sim is probably my favourite effect on the SP series. He told me he didn't really like the Vinyl Sim effect. He listens to madlib, flying lotus and samiyam and all..so I was pretty amazed he didn't like the effect. We tried it out to see if it sounded different to the effect on my 606 and old 404. To my amazement the most important knob (Vinyl Comp) was replaced by a filter :S
I did a search on this to see if anyone else thought of this as a problem, but I couldn't find a single post on the subject. Where my SX owners at? You don't find this change disturbing?
Whatever happened to Vinyl Comp on the SX ?

Re: Whatever happened to Vinyl Comp on the SX ?
the vinyl sim is more realistic now, and the crackle sounds real. there is a compression filter that he can use instead, it works better on the sx than the original 404.
although i still use my original 404's vinyl sim compression when need be

Yes I noticed the difference as well. Going from the 303 which died on me to now using the 404sx. Seems like the vinyl comp is gone replaced by a filter in vinyl sim mode from what I can tell. Never had the OG 404. But, the compresser sounds dope to me maybe even better than the vinyl comp. Anybody have both the 404 and 404sx and done a comparrison? I wonder what's up and why they made this change.
