How To Do Mashups With SP's.

Hey guys this may be a dumb question, im not sure if this has been posted already but im too lazy to search for it, anyways i wanna start doing mashups on my sp 404/303, so im wondering what would be the best way to go about doing it? Every tip helps!!!!

theres a video on youtube of someone doing a daft punk (i think) remix on a sp 404 that might help
otherwise i would cut diff loops of the songs you want to mash up, pitch them to the same bpm and then import them to the 404

Well the first thing to understand is what it means to make a remix/mashup.

Basically the main idea behind remixes is doing something new or different with the same parts of a song. It has to stay recognizable.

When it comes to mashups of several remixes or songs, the best thing you can do is either opt for a continuous bpm with everything adjusted to the best average bpm. Or you can add breaks in which you'll change the bpm manually. That will require some skill to get done though.

The easiest is probably turning most of your music in loops. Like 1 intro, 2 main loops and 1 outro loop for one song. That might cost more pads than you like though, so it's basically up to you on how much control you want.

I do think when using only an SP-404 and / or SP-303 you will want to record your patterns into loops you can place under just one pad.

step number one is to timestretch your loops. odds are you'll want to do thing an a computer app like reaper.

after that, chop those bits up and see how they play together. personally i find it helpful to program drums first and work the samples around those
