Whenever I try to use the exchange feature on my new 404sx, it deletes both samples instead of switching them. I'm using the card that came with it. I hope they didn't send me a funked-up card. Anybody else experience this?

you have to hold del and then press rec, then they should both stay lit, it will say CHG in the flashing box, and all the pads with sounds on em will start flashing, you choose your two, then rec should start flashing and you press it to confirm it, my guess is that you didn't hold del down and then it just did delete mode.........wait maybe the 404sx has some new way of this with the function button, someone correct me if i'm off

The 404sx uses it's function button and pad 2 (labeled "exchange"). So in theory it would be faster and simpler on the sx, but in practice... IT DELETES MY SAMPLES! This new 404 keeps disappointing me. First I find out the VinylSim is WEAK, now this. Pshhhhhhh... Keep your old 404s.

Not saying there's not some kind of bug in the SP-404sx and that you're wrong, but are you sure you're doing everything correctly?

The basic procedure is still the same. I've seen people do it without it erasing any samples as well.

that's pretty strange... func+exchange, then the pads light up, select the two pads you wanna swap, and it's done. Maybe the SD card is corrupted in some way... try a diff one or reformat it.

Or perhaps he is resampling instead and overwriting pads.

Unless he is pressing Delete in the process, exchanging samples can not be deleted on the SP-404sx. I doubt it's a faulty flash card.

once i had this issue with the old 404... i think it was because the card was full and the machine was unable to save the pad into the ram or sth. so it got deleted... nothing you 32-sx-gigabastards should be worried about.

Hallo,
just register bo I've read for some time.
I checked my sp-404sx and there is this problem if you want to exchange samples that were attached to gear. If I try with my samples it works fine.

I've had that a few times with the original SD card, never happened again when I used a different one.
Perhaps Roland simply went the cheap route again and bulk-ordered a bunch of shit.
On a side note, the vinyl sim isn't WEAK but REALISTIC, what makes you think vinyl incorporates heavy, obvious compression with pumping and all side effects? :P
If you want compression, use the compression effect.

Since I deleted all included problem I haven't had this problem. From my point of view it is not a matter of card but samples.
