mpc 1000 or mpc 2000/xl

so heres the dealio. i bought a mp1k off some dude for 400. im thinkin i wanna sell it for more and buy me a 2k or 2kxl. why would this be a good idea or why wouldnt it? i get bored with shit and always wanted to try out an oldie. lemme know what yall think about that

2kXL and 1k are pretty much the same machines. It comes down to if you need the extra outs on the XL or you want to be able to put it in a backpack. Also, I'm sure you are aware of the pads on the superman 1k.

If you want to try an oldie get the 2k classic or a 3000 (The 60 is super dope too)

I'm in the same spot at you. A friend offered me a 2kxl for $370. I'm not gonna bother with it tho.

Just use what you got, completely master it..... and then do it over again!

main differences:
the 2000xl cannot resample (in the SP sense), the 1000 can, also the patterns can be resampled with.
2000xl got scsi system (but there are ways to install cf card reader also), the 1000 got cf card slot and usb too.
the 2000xl got 8 outs, the 1000 too.
the 2000xl chops "mathematically", the 1000 too + chops like sp 505/606
the 2000xl got no fx, the 1000 yes, you can apply 2 of them simultaneously
the last jjos for the 1000 let you have a sampler with the korg esx capabilities too (arpeggio etc), but the jjos is not free, so this is a "plus" not coming from the "akai factory"...

the 2000xl got the best mpc pads, the 1000 got pads better than the mpc500...
the 2000xl got the '90 warm sound, the 1000 a more definite and precise sound
