Problem with pad#3, bank I

This is frustrating because I don't know if it's a warranty issue or not. Long story short, you assign a pad to bank I, pad #3, and it saves. Turn the 404 off, then back on, the pad is empty. None of the other pad banks are giving me this problem. What's weird is that the 404 is only doing this with the card I bought, a microSD that I'm using with an adapter. When the card that came with the 404 is in there there is no problem. I can play the sound I assigned to the pad yesterday and it remembers a different sound I just loaded into the pad a minute ago, even after I reboot the sampler. Any ideas?

its more than likely that card/card adapter set up youre using man.. especially since the stock card isnt giving you issues..

I swear, these SD cards! Just got a couple of regular ones(non-micro) and there are a couple of pads on those(#6 and #4, bank F) that won't save. Waste of a lot of work importing those sounds.

Also, I've noticed: when I power up the SP, the Isolator, DJFX Looper and MFX buttons light up, but not the three on the other side. I'm starting to suspect I've gotten a defective unit.

This has been complicated by the fact that I think I overwrote the included SD card by mistake. No huge loss, I was never going to use those sounds anyway, but now it has non-functioning pads too - a big clue that the problem is maybe the SP.

God damn! Hi, I'm new and i have the same problem. Pad 5 bank B. I can record on it from external source, but i can't assign a sample. Even if i manually put B0000005.WAV on my sd card pad 5/B still behaves like empty. Somebody please tell me WTF? It is very annoying. I betray on Roland.

It's hard to imagine how this could be the fault of the SX, but possibly it isn't giving enough time for a response and some cards memory is a little slow in places. In which case there is a compatibility issue with some makes of card and that's that (There is with the older CF cards).

It would help if those having problems post the brand names that do or don't work (or someone start a thread on the subject).

I can only suggest you try initialising the suspect card in the SP. If it doesn't help, then try formatting in a computer - I'd suggest using FAT32 as the format type for an SD card.
If that doesn't work - look for the card manufacturers website to see if they have a format utility that may also do a thorough test of the card and report if it has any faulty memory cells.

I don't know if the SX allows "hot swapping" of cards (the original CF card model doesn't), but even so, wait at least ten seconds after doing anything that would change the cards settings before switching off and removing it. It does take time for a card to finish writing the job into the flash memory cells and the host machine doesn't actually know if it's finished.
OK, it takes much less than ten seconds for the write operation but better safe than sorry! Anyway, removing the card while it's still writing will corrupt the memory - sometimes permanently.
